How to book a Borderland Food Tour?
You can book online and you will receive booking confirmation once your secure payment has been made. For larger groups or bespoke Tours we suggest emailing or a phone call to discuss in more detail your requirements.
What if a tour is cancelled?
We have a cancellation policy of 7 days whereby up until 7 days before a tour takes place, a full refund will be given if a tour is cancelled, less a 10% admin fee. You can change tour dates at our discretion and if availability allows you to do so. We reserve the right to cancel a tour for unforeseen circumstances. Full refunds will be given if this unlikely event happens.
Are tour details ever altered?
Borderland Food Tours reserves the right to alter details of the tour e.g. due to weather, traffic/road issues, transport availability, availability/opening of attractions, availability of supplies & circumstances outside our control.

Not included – train tickets, overnight accommodation.
Is there much walking involved in the tours?
There is a little walking involved on the tours as we move about the sites visited, some of it on uneven ground. The bus will drop off & pick up as near as possible to the entrance of most locations.
Guests are welcome to stay on the bus if they choose too at any of the stops, participation is optional at all times.
Guests can get in touch if they would like more information about the physical aspect of the tours. The bus has steps so may not be suitable for some passengers with mobility issues.
What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable & sturdy shoes and to bring clothing/accessories suitable to the weather (bearing in mind you are in Scotland where we can have four seasons in one day!) e.g. waterproof hooded jacket, gloves, umbrella, suncream, hat, sunglasses.
When are the tours available?
Borderland Food Tours run from April- October on the days available on our booking system. However, Bespoke Tours can be arranged outside these times.
What size are the tour groups?
The tour will involve a maximum of 16 people on a mini-coach but most tours will operate with a maximum of 14 to allow space for food storage. There is no minimum number and the tour will run even with a single guest (however, the transport mode may differ slightly). Specific seats cannot be requested. Any larger groups looking to book a Borderland Tour should contact us directly for further information.
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes, of course. A Borderland Tour is perfect for a gifting experience.
Are there any other languages spoken?
Borderland Tours are all spoken in English, albeit with some local Borderland dialect thrown in occasionally!
Are there any entrance fees to pay?
Any entry fees for sites we are visiting will have been covered in the cost of the tour. At some sites there will not be time to fully explore the main attraction but the idea of the tour is to get a taste of the Borderlands and hopefully motivate and inspire you to come back again and spend longer next time.
What licences does the driver have?
Our driver is fully licensed & qualified to carry passengers and we have Public Liability Insurance.
Can I bring any luggage?
We have limited storage space on the bus so only small carry on bags can fit on the bus on the overhead shelf. We advise guests not to leave any valuables unattended on the bus. The bus will be locked when unattended, however Borderland Tours cannot accept liability of lost or stolen items. We advise guests to have travel insurance.
Where are the toilets?
There are toilet facilities at most stops. We will let you know when & where the next will be as the tour progresses.
What are the pick up & drop off arrangements?
Unless arranged with prior notice, pick ups & drops off will be in the car parks of the stated Railway Stations on the tour description. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time with your confirmation email so we have time to make sure everyone boards in a relaxed manner as the tour intends to be run! If running late please call to let us know. We cannot wait long for any late arrivals. If not able to make it at all at short notice, please let us know also, so we dont waste time waiting, but unfortunately no refunds will be given. If transport is required back to start point, this will incur an additional charge.
Can I eat/drink on the bus?
Eating and drinking is allowed on the bus but please tidy up after yourself and keep the bus as clean and tidy for everyone’s enjoyment.
